Beginner Kettlebell Workshop

We have now done two successful beginner kettlebell workshops.  A third is in the works.  Kettlebells are funny things.  A lot of people see them and aren’t quite sure how to use them.  It’s an innocent looking hunk of metal that can sit collecting a ton of dust in a kbs ice creamcorner cause people are afraid to use them.  Or simply don’t know how.

Well, let’s end that fear.  Sure, they look intimidating.  They have no moving parts, can be incredibly heavy and appear unwieldy.  But used safely, wisely and skillfully the can look smooth and graceful and move with ease.

This grace and ease doesn’t happen overnight or in one practice session.  It can take hours and thousands of reps to even start to feel like you may know what you are doing with a kettlebell.  The important part is starting and knowing where to start and continuing to practice with them.

Coming up on April 27th at 1:00pm  there will be a three hour workshop designed to get you familiar with the kettlebell and how it can be an effective training tool in your everyday life or how you can incorporate it into your current training regime.  The cost is $70.00 per person and the session will cover everything you need to know to get going – safety – warm up – The Swing – Goblet Squat and Turkish Get Up and maybe a few other surprises.

You can pay online by clicking the PayPal button below or drop into City Motion to pay by cheque.  Cheques needkbs to be made Kettlebell Workshop March 23rd 012payable to “Primal Movers with Tim Day.” In order for this to work we will need a minimum of four paid participants and a maximum of ten.

The registration deadline and deadline to pay is April 24th, 2013 at Noon.  All you need to bring is some water, shoes, workout gear and a willingness to learn and try some new movements that you will hopefully find addicting!

Primal Movers with Tim Day

Three months ago I decided to take part in the Agatsu Three Month Challenge.  It was anything you wanted to do.  Focus on that movement or skill you wanted to get better at and reach that goal in three months.

For some, this would probably be easy, but I’ve always found it a bit challenging.  I’ve now reached the 30 second mark and surpassed it by eight seconds.  That’s a big deal.  People ride bulls for eight seconds. 🙂

Not only did I exceed the 30 second mark, I reached it two days early.  The end goal was to be March 20th, 2013.  I completed this on March 18th.  I also went into it on this day by saying to my brain “let’s go for 35 seconds.”  I set it up in my brain.  The power of positive thinking.

Yay me!

Basically what I’m trying to get across here is if you set your mind to something, you CAN do it.  If you get past the block the little voice in your head sets up and you can do ANYTHING.

Two & A Half Months In And…?

So, here we are, two and a half months into 2013.  How’s that New Years Resolution going?

Just thought I’d ask.

If you’ve bailed on it like I used to do (I don’t make them anymore) I have a suggestion for you.  Why not try something new?  Kettlebells.

This coming Saturday, March 23rd, I have a Beginner Kettlebell Workshop planned at City Motion in Red Deer.  All the details are HERE!

052I see a lot of misinformed people swinging a kettlebell or using one in a potentially dangerous way.  I want to help steer you in the proper direction with education, practical applications and some instruction.

There will be a pile of information, hands on, and yep, even some sweat!

Bentley Bells – SHORT NOTICE

They start up again tonight!

The following are the dates for the new session of Bentley Bells – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00pm for one hour. There are twelve classes in total and the cost is $120.00.

March 5th
March 7th
March 12th
March 14th
March 19th
March 21st
April 2nd
April 4th
April 9th
April 11th
April 23rd
April 25th

Dates are subject to change but should be pretty solid. One date that may be a challenge is April 25th. This will need to be confirmed.
